Welcome to Our Department
There have always been many different languages and civilizations spoken in India. Among these, tribal language and culture are among the most remarkable. Anthropologists estimate that there are about 461 different kinds of tribal people in India, with the Santali tribe being the most famous. There are currently approximately 7.4 million Santals in the globe. They have a unique culture, language, religion, and customs. Their language, the Santali tongue, is a member of the Austro-Asian language family.
The Santali language became a part of the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution on December 22, 2003. Santali language instruction is already being offered in schools, colleges, and universities in states like Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. Occident

Vision of the Department
The department embodies an assignment to explore and encourage research in various aspects of Santali language usage and literary studies and to welcome comparative studies of scientific thought existing in various Santali texts. It is working flawlessly. Most of the participating students come from socio-economically backward classes. We strongly believe that this is an achievement for the youth from the marginalized sections of the society. This will help the developing society to become fresher, wiser and more vibrant. The youth will become aware of their potential, rights and dues. Above all, the youth section enriched in the light of such education will surely spread the light of knowledge, prosperity and happiness not only within themselves or their own community but also for the benefit of the country.
